1974 Spaghetti Pie





Hope you have had a great Friday. Here is a new recipe for you PM people out there. It's a little spin on just plan ole cooked spaghetti. Hope you enjoy!

Ingredients:

6 oz package dried spaghetti noodles
2 tablespoons margarine or butter
1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
2 well beaten eggs
1 pound ground beef or italian sausage
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
1 cup canned tomatoes, cut up
1 6 oz can tomato paste
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon dried oregano, crushed
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1 cup cottage cheese, small curd
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese


Instructions:

Cook spaghetti noodles according to package directions; drain.  Stir margarine into hot spaghetti.  Stir in parmesan cheese and eggs.  Put spaghetti mixtre into a buttered 10 inch pie plate, forming a crust.

In a large skillet, cook the ground beef or sausage, onion and sweet pepper until meat is brown and vegetables are tender.  Drain well.  Stir in the undrained tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, oregano and garlic salt.  Heat through.

Spread cottage cheese over spaghetti mixture in pie plate.  Top with the meat mixture.  Bake, uncovered, in a 350 degree F oven for 20 minutes.  Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the top.  Bake about 5 minutes more or until mozzarella cheese melts. Makes 6 servings.

with a few tweaks I am so totally going to make this! Spaghetti pizza might go a LONG way in this house with 2 kids! :)

Baked Spaghetti is a great dish! It's family friendly and has become one of my go-to dishes when I want to take food to people. Thanks for sharing!
